About the Role
Identify and resolve complex legal matters in a time critical manner, primarily focusing on administrative, dispute resolution and employment law. Provide expert advice and opinion to the Board, Chief Executive and other icare clients.

Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Principal Lawyer you will:
• Work closely with icare service lines and enabling services to identify, interpret and resolve complex legal matters relating to areas of administrative, dispute resolution and employment law including disciplinary, industrial and privacy law to ensure an effective service is provided to the business and compliance with legislative timeframes.
• Analyse and provide advice on significant legal matters/statutory interpretation to meet business requirements.
• Analyse and provide advice on complex complaints including independent reviews/remediation and ensure legislative requirements are met.
• Facilitate client engagement, consultation and negotiation on significant legal issues and ensure that fit for purpose, consistent and defensible advice is provided to the business.
• Select, instruct and oversee law firms retained to provide advice and conduct litigation on specialist areas of the law to ensure they comply with service level agreement requirements
• Provide quality assurance of panel firms on icare legal panels
• Identify significant issues and develop legal strategy in partnership with icare businesses and outsourced providers in the context of organisational goals.
• Demonstrate strong client engagement skills, an understanding of icare’s transformation and the ability to work independently.
Skills & Experience
• Admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW.
• A broad range of experience in a senior legal role in a leading firm, government department or large organisation.
• Ability to work in partnership with icare businesses and provide legal services in the context of icare’s strategy.
• Significant experience and excellent technical knowledge in administrative, dispute resolution and employment law.
• Sound working knowledge of NSW Government procurement requirements.
• Good understanding of the legislative and operational frameworks applying to icare.
