As a member of the Risk & Compliance leadership team the role works together by prioritising the success of peers and leader. This role ensures icare is accountable to its Board, CEO, external regulators, and stakeholders for its management of risk and its responses to issues requiring remediation.

Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Head of Risk you will:
• Drive the effective implementation of the enterprise wide risk management framework across the icare business, through provision of subject matter expertise in risk management; ensuring framework/policy is benchmarked to industry best practice (document owner), engagement with Line 1 Risk, advice/support on SME area, and oversight and reporting over the risk across the whole of icare for the General Manager Risk & Compliance
• Provide assurance support as SME to the assurance team, including where required completing assurance activities
• Provide quality control oversight over the risk and control environment, focusing on SME oversight, through risk profile reviews for all of icare.
• Lead and manage a team of Risk SMEs, managing and nurturing the relationships with key business leaders by managing the allocation of single point of contact for an allocated business unit (this may include rotating as agreed with GM Risk & Compliance); triaging the requests to the right SME (including compliance), and ensuring holistic risk/compliance matters (frameworks/training/etc) are aware to the respective BU
• As a risk generalist all roles in the team support working together with colleagues in R&G to connect the dots from the 3LOD, issues, incidents, risks, and controls testing and provide insights and value from reporting (this can be as SME and across all risk - it is a collective outcome from the Risk team:
• Lead the management of roles in the team to ensure cross-skilling into each SME area and business unit area at any time, at the discretion of the GM Risk & Compliance
• The relationship component of this role is not a parallel role to Line 1 Risk, it is there to support Line 1 Risk where required. Line 1 Risk will provide business risk insights directly through the extended LT, the RCC and the Community of Practice. These roles should attend relevant Line 1 Committees for relationship business unit where direct engagement is required, such as new framework/process, and for presentations on Line 2 all of icare insights over general and/or SME risk areas.
• Oversee and drive icare’s business resilience risk framework, which consists of the Business Continuity Management policy and processes and Incident and Crisis Management processes.
Skills & Experience
• Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, finance, law, economic or other relevant business discipline.
• Well-developed understanding of enterprise risk and compliance management frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience as a senior influencer in Insurance, Banking or Finance.
• Demonstrated experience in the Australian regulatory environment. Experience in government is preferred.
• Address problems in the work environment and develop and implement action plans.
• Ensure decisions are based on evidence, but when necessarily make effective judgments under pressure.
• Make decisions within the level of financial and administrative delegation assigned to the role and within corporate / government / legislative protocols.
• Significant experience in a governance, risk management or compliance role within an insurance, corporate or commercially driven public sector environment.
• Extensive successful experience building rapport and influence at all levels of an organization.
• Experience in a role operating in a fast-paced environment with significant competing priorities, a decentralised leadership model and dealing with ambiguity.
