Duties

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as an Actuarial Lead you will:

  • Apply in-depth actuarial and analytical skills to corporate analytical assignments and provide effective services to the business which meet corporate and legislative requirements and provide consistent standard of practice
  • Undertake detailed and complex analysis as directed by senior actuarial staff that improves the understanding of icare’s performance
  • Lead a small, high-performing team to deliver key projects, providing coaching and guidance, and project management
  • Provide support to projects that involve analysis of data and trends
  • Communicate complex actuarial and analytical modelling and the results of analysis to the actuarial team and management
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of the business entities within icare across the entire actuarial control cycle
  • Critically review processes and procedures and implement improvements where possible
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the relevant legislation, industry trends, business processes and actuarial requirements for the entities under icare

Skills & Experience

  • Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, or equivalent
  • Tertiary qualification at degree level in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another relevant field
  • Have four or more years’ experience in an actuarial role in the general insurance industry (experience in workers compensation is an advantage)
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to positively engage with stakeholders and team members
  • Proficiency in analytic and communication tools such as SAS, R, Excel, Word, Powerpoint and other valuation software
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills to succinctly present key findings
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
