About the Role

The purpose of the role is to ensure the best outcomes for our participants/workers by supporting the GIC Frontline operational team with its decision making and knowledge management processes. The principles of collaboration and informed decision-making are central to integrated care for participants and workers and will be achieved by your critical reasoning skills and knowledge of evidence-based treatment, rehabilitation and care and support options which suit an injured person’s requirements.

Duties

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as a Rotational Review Officer you will:

  • Apply critical reasoning and thinking within a decision-making framework when reviewing requests for services and support to ensure they appropriately meet the needs of people with severe injuries.
  • Provide relief to other Review Officers during periods of leave or sickness.
  • In carrying out the above accountability, understand how disability impacts on daily living and identify when the individual and/ or their families would benefit from early intervention and/or other support funded by icare and through other sources.
  • Keep abreast of and champion the understanding of relevant legislative frameworks, Guidelines and policies and their contribution to the decision-making framework.
  • Identify gaps and barriers in service delivery and share this broadly across the business to support continuous improvement activities, projects and knowledge on injury management and service delivery to people with severe injuries.
  • Provide guidance and support to the frontline teams to ensure the appropriate provision of services for people with severe injuries in a cost-effective manner. This includes specialist knowledge on best practice in interventions and support including care programs; support for community participation; and assistive technology.
  • Work closely with the Customer Resolution team to identify trends in disputes and complaints impacting decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams across the business to drive quality and consistency in decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with service providers as required to ensure the optimal delivery of programs to people with severe injuries.
  • Uphold the values and principles of icare, promote respect for participants and workers and uphold their dignity.
  • Actively contribute to a learning culture by:
    • Identifying and participating in own professional development opportunities to ensure currency of skills and knowledge with regard to current evidence and best practice;
    • Sharing expertise across icare using a positive, collaborative and coaching approach;
    • Taking accountability for the successful completion of all assigned projects.

Skills & Experience

  • A developed understanding of the needs and perspectives of people with disabilities/severe injuries.
  • Critical reasoning skills to ensure a high degree of integrity in the decision-making processes.
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to build rapport and communicate complex information and create and nurture effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • capability to work in an ambiguous environment.
  • Attendance at training and development events in any icare office is required.
  • Maintain a current Working with Children Check.
  • Up to date with current Public Health Order requirements as appropriate
  • Experience in relevant health or disability sectors.
  • Experience and/or understanding of CTP / Workers Compensation legislation and guidelines.
  • Experience working with people with brain and/or spinal cord injuries
