The opportunity:

This position will manage and oversee a complex claims portfolio of predominantly institutional abuse claims working in consultation with Client Agencies and internal and external stakeholders, driving strategic resolution of claims in a timely, fair and measured manner.

 

This is a key role, handling high value, sensitive, complex, contentious and strategically important claims caseload with empathy in a technically proficient manner. You will strive to ensure compliance with the Guiding Principles and Model Litigant requirements whilst delivering strong financial management and strategic focus on claim resolution. Your will be able to shift your focus from portfolio objectives to the detail of individual claims.

 

Develop and maintain appropriate technical standards and processes to drive continuous improvement within icare and the contracted claims manager and liaise with Agencies, Client Engagement and Underwriting teams to respond to their requirements and to involve them in the claims management process in cases of particular sensitivity.

Your story so far:

  • Strong technical background in both interpretation and application of statute law and precedent within litigated and unlitigated environments.
  • Successfully handled sensitive and complex losses and gained industry recognition for this for at least five years.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing sensitive claims and demonstrated success at resolving claims prior to them becoming litigated.
  • Familiarity with Model Litigant Policy for Civil Litigation and Guiding Principles for Civil Claims for Child Abuse.
  • Broad working knowledge of claims systems, service requirements and processes as well as an ability to identify trends in claims and work on suitable ways to achieve desired outcomes in a collaborative way.
  • Ability to handle very complex and difficult negotiations and influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to engage and work with multiple stakeholders to build relationships, inform and influence outcomes.
