The opportunity:

As Principal Lawyer you will be report to the Deputy General Counsel and work collaboratively with the team to identify and resolve legal matters and issues, primarily focusing on complex procurement contracts. It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as Principal Lawyer you will:

  • Work closely with icare service lines and enabling services to identify and resolve complex legal matters, with a primary focus on regulatory, legislative and policy matters and statutory interpretation relevant to icare’s schemes to ensure an effective service is provided to the business
  • Analyse and provide advice on complex legal matters to meet business requirements and achieve business strategic objectives
  • Facilitate client engagement, consultation and negotiation on significant legal issues and ensure that fit for purpose, consistent and defensible advice is provided to the business.
  • Select, instruct and oversee law firms, retained to provide advice and conduct litigation, reviews or investigations on specialist areas of the law to ensure they comply with service level agreement requirements and add significant value to in-house legal resources.

Your story so far:

  • Admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW; and holds a practising certificate
  • Extensive experience practising as a legal practitioner
  • Significant experience and excellent technical knowledge in commercial transactions and outsourcing arrangements or contracts.
