The opportunity:

icare is currently seeking a Compliance Officer to join the HBCF Underwriting team, in delivering compliance strategy and Quality Assurance activities that relates to builder’s risk monitoring.

You will support the HBCF Compliance Lead in delivering a range of risk and controls reviews including controls testing and builder alerts monitoring within HBCF Underwriting.

It’s an exciting environment where no two days are the same, but on a typical day you will:

  • Proactively manage daily builder alerts and provide support to external partner in management of eligible builder alerts that includes insolvencies (e.g. Liquidations) and other trigger events
  • Analyse builder alerts and track movements and communicate with a team on the trend and patterns to assist underwriters in decision making
  • Manage and maintain large portfolios of eligible builders and their associated parties to ensure accuracy of the database. Initiate timely reconciliation of the portfolios on a regular basis
  • Analyse special eligibility reviews and peer reviews undertaken and present findings on the action taken in compliance with Eligibility Manual
  • Facilitate issues raised by the team on comprehensive credit check report with external service provider(e.g. credit rating agency) and promptly seek resolution and communicate with the team. Assist in credit repair enquiries and provide supporting documents
  • Evaluate and document audit finding; prepare and finalise reports within timeframe to communicate outcomes of Quality Assurance activities and support Team Leaders in delivering training
  • Support line 1 with underwriting and pricing issues, including the review & challenge of actions/root cause analysis

Your story so far:

  • Tertiary qualification in business, finance or accounting
  • Experience (3 to 5 years) in managing insolvency risks and leading end-to-end quality assurance programs and delivering outcomes
  • Well-developed understanding of business and regulatory risk, mitigation and assurance strategies
  • Independent self-starter with excellent stakeholder management, communication, presentation, report-writing and analysis skills
